About
Being Luminary is an equity and culture consultancy. We work with organisations in the arts, charities and education, in the UK and overseas, on equity, culture and leadership.
The company was founded by Angie Browne and has been running for seven years. Before that Angie was a headteacher and then a Deputy CEO. She is a qualified executive coach, the author of Lighting the Way (Bloomsbury, 2020), and the host of the Nothing Without Us podcast.
The work is built on frameworks Angie developed: five literacies for reading an organisation, a method we call Read, Tend, Sustain, and a maturity model that runs from Dusking to Luminary. In practice that means we start by understanding what is actually happening in your organisation, rather than arriving with a programme and fitting you to it.
Angie works with a small team. Melanie runs the office, and a group of associates deliver specialist sessions alongside Angie.

Lighting the Way
Angie’s book, Lighting the Way: The case for ethical leadership in schools, was published by Bloomsbury in 2020. It is about what ethical leadership asks of the people who run schools, and what it looks like in the ordinary decisions they make.
